The Negroes all kep well. The 24 that is in the woods I doo not noe how they are! Julians [Julia Ann’s] child deid on Tuesday last. Please dont for git my dogs when you come don. Theare has been two attempts made with in three weaks by sum person to git in the smok house. I shot at sum gentlman a few nights a go a bout mid night that was lurking round the barn. I would giv [the] right man 50 dollars for two good cur dogs.
